Question please 6.4

With a Auto Transmission on a 2008 6.4, what speeds are OK to shift from,
Drive to 3rd
3rd to 2nd
2nd to 1st

why do you ask?

for towing you should use tow/haul mode, and let the tranny decide

Was on a road trip the other day and on the hills, just wondering if I shifted, down to third what speeds would be OK. As for towing, you are right.

I used to have one. 1st gear is good for 15mph, 2nd 25, 3rd 40, then D. I shifted manually when I crawled in interstate stop and go just so I did not have to brake so much, etc....

I may be a little conservative, keep RPM's below 3K. Otherwise, do like Sam says. Don't mess with it. Stop and go traffic with trailers is a bugger and it's the only time I ever messed with it.
