Guys, I'm looking to trade in one of my current trucks for a 6.7. My truck will have to be ordered. I have dealers telling me 4 weeks and others telling me 12 weeks.
What do you guys do about your trade in value? The dealer may tell me that my trade is worth $20K now, but then when the truck actually comes in they may tell me it's worth $18K. How do you guys work this deal out?
I only have a few vehicle purchases under my belt so I'm no expert on these things.
It's all about getting the quote in writing. A good dealer will pre-print a buyers order with all fees and trade-in value clearly stated before you commit to the deal. If your dealer is unwilling to do that, find another one.
You might also consider a private party sale. Here in the Salt Lake City area, we have a free local online classified service much like Craigs List. You can sell anything fast at maximum value. That's a little tougher because you may be without a vehicle if you sell yours too early. Regardless, you can almost always get a couple of thousand dollars more when you sell on your own vs. a dealer trade-in.
If you can find what you want on a lot somewhere because you need the truck, that would be the best route. If you decide to order, be prepaired to wait.
It took 12 weeks for mine to arrive.

12 weeks = 3 months
Around here, most dealers only have 5-6 2011's on the lot. Are they selling them or are they being limited on stock?
I wish I had access to that dealer connection site that they use at the dealership.
Good luck with that.... Around here I started noticing that the dealers had more on their lot than online.... had one dealer tell me, without asking, that the dealers are 'hiding' these trucks by not listing in their invetory as recieved that way you don't have others dealers selling their trucks. Said its bad to say no to another dealer if they call but they can't call if they don't know you had it.
As far as order times, I was told 6-8 weeks and right now it is looking like 7-7.5 weeks right now. Went to a local dealer the other day and just told him I had one on order and needed a 'fix' of seeing one. He told me between the shut down and increased orders they are up over 12 weeks right now.
I live in Rhode Island, and I punched in on the web new England ford dealers. Then you can put in what type of truck you want and look at all the dealerships. I could not find what I was looking for so I went to fords website and under find a dealer i put in a new york zipcode it then let me see the invintory at all the tristate ford dealers. found one in new York.
The dealer that has 16 2011 F250 6.7 CC is in Clarksville, TN. The dealer is Jenkins & Wynne Ford. I counted 16 today on their lot. They have a couple more that just came in in their holding area.
