Correct Degas Tank Level

So where is it? Little recall sticker has MIN and MAX marks, for Cold level, is that with the cap on or off? I see a pretty big level change when the cap is loosened/removed and the system depressurizes.

Thanks,
Fred

it is for when the coolant is cold, so you can add or adjust level. You can't do it when it's hot, and shouldn't open that cap hot. I use the sticker and the "MAX" cold mark is about equivalent to the original LOW mark on the bottle.

It depends....
IIRC, there was a recall to relabel the min to the new max because many were filling to the max line and it was too full....

so fill it to the min line if you haven't had the recall done (like me)

if I'm not mistaken, just so long as it is not overfilled or too low, you are good to go and it's not a big deal (hence the RANGE of min to max )

the key is, does it lose coolant ? either from too full and puking or elsewhere...
once filled and it stays at that level - no worries !

I run mine about 1.5" below the min. line. I don't have any trouble with puking at this level.

Yeah, when I fill mine to the MIN line on the recall sticker, it drops to near the bottom of the degas tank when hot and under pressure. I had one instance of puking and can't replicate it. I think I may have had the level a little high, then drove it the first time we had over a 100 degree day. I'm hoping that was the only reason. I did however determine that my oil cooler is getting fouled and will be replacing it soon as well. Thanks.
