Are you talking about the EBPV? If so I gutted the valve but left the actuator in tact. IMO the EBPV is totally unhelpful and is an exhaust restriction. I have heard of people using it as an exhaust brake and althougth I do not have any concrete evidence I would not recomend it. I believe it causes premature oil leaks and sometimes even leads to a cracked bearing housing. just my .02

yes that is exactly what i am talking about. so just take the valve out but leave the actuatot and i am good? and any downsides?

Some people have completely cut off the EBPV actuator and welded up the pedastal. this is the best way and makes for easy removal of the turbo. and any downsides? None, unless you live in the arctic. where it helps with faster engine warm-up.
