after market tach

i have a 1997 power strock 7.3 liter and would like to know how to hook up an after market tach can some one please explaine

I don't know off hand as the factory tach gets its signal from the powertrain controll module. The PCM gets it from the Camshaft position sensor. I will try to do some diggin'.

Did your truck not have a factory one?
The signal comes from the PCM and is
in the White/Pink wire (Pin#9) in the
dash harness.

after market tach

use at own risk - this is how I hook up tachs to 4 cylinder mechanically injected diesels in the conversions I do. Its kind-of hokey, and sounds dumb, but it works like a damn, and is ususally $100-$200 cheaper than trying to source an aftermarket diesel tach.
