I will be towing my 30' Camper thru the Mountains of WV Friday, I have a Transmission gauge, & It is going to be 95 , how hot can I let the tranny get beforeI have to worry?? I have a 2001 F250 with a 5.4
I guess I should have read the post about Tranny temps before I posted this, but I was worry about the mountains & 95 degree out . If I go over what temp should I stop, (I have been told if I stop to keep the truck running for the tranny pump to work, is this right?)
yes keep it running that way the tranny pumps the fluid through the cooler and will cool it off pretty quick.
I went and asked the same questions about temps and was told that with the 4R100 trans that running at 200-220 was normal pulling a trailer in hot temps. Then if it got up to 250 then it was time to stop and let it cool. But everyone has different opinions on tranny temps too.
