F-150 big enough?
Ok so I'm looking at buying another truck. I wanted to do the cummins conversion on my 74 but i decided not to and to just find a supercab or a crew cab 4x4 to do the conversion in. Well i found a 78 f150 4x4 supercab. Guy doesn't have a price but that's not really relevant to my question anyway. My question is, how much will this f-150 haul. I pull trailers almost everyday and one of them is rated at 10-15 thousand lbs, and i have loaded it down that much and my f250 had no problems. Should i just put 3/4 or 1 ton suspension and brakes on it or will it be able to hold and stop the 10 thousand lb loads? Thanks if you can help.

I don't remember what the official weight rating is. However, I haul a ton of hay at least once a month and tow a 3 horse trailer with my '78 F250. I've tried it with my half ton. You didn't say what engine the truck has. If it's got a 460, it's got enough power. But, with half ton brakes and half ton suspension, you won't be happy. It'll be scary at times, and you'll wear out brakes and suspension fast. You'll be way happier holding out for an F250 or F350. Just my opinion.

Damn it because i can't find any F250 or F350's near me. I found an amazing deal on a 1977 f250 crew cab on a 97 dodge 4x4 cummins frame with a 5.9 and an NV4500 but its 20 hours from me in CO. Just my luck...
