What's the difference between

having a shift kit that makes hard shifts or when my E4OD throws a code and boosts line pressure and shifts hard??

My TC won't lock and throws code 728 excessive TCC slip.

I'm considering just leaving it as is and driving it til it dies.

I'm guessing/hoping not all clutches will fail at the same time so at least I won't get stranded when internals start to fail from hard shifts.

I'm having trouble justifying spending time and money on new TC and or trans on a $1000.00 van.

1994 E150 5.8 E4OD 188k

I have a work truck I use most of the time and only drive the 94 when it's not appropriate to be driving the company truck.

My real dilemma is whether to rely on a truck for vacations and weekend trips that could die at any time or do I finance something more reliable that will sit in the driveway most of the time?

What would you do??????????????

You could drive it for some time if you want too, I would not take it on any trips that involve driving it on the highway for any length of time. If the converter cant lock up it is unable to cool and the tranny temps will get very hot, this is what will cause the tranny to fail.

That makes sense.

The only times it codes is after a trip on the interstate.
