I picked up this 95 Blazer for $75 last winter with no distributor. PO claimed it had a miss, not sure why he took the distributor out and never put it back... Finally got around to putting one in that I picked up cheap, and it ran pretty good for a bit, then blew out the ecm fuse. I put in another, and it hasn't blown, but it won't generally keep running now. If I supply fuel, it will run a bit longer. It fires for about 30 seconds or so and then dies. I can hear the pump run, plus the pressure stays steady and good all the time. It acts like it is running out of fuel, but there is plenty. It is the vortec, so I am wondering if there is an issue with the central injector electrically. It seems the vehicle has other electrical issues as well, but not related to the engine, the column was smoking a bit, and the area around the wiper switch was hot, and the wipers try to start every so often with the switch off. Anyway, anyone seen anything like this? I am absolutely unfamiliar with Vortecs...
Did you put fresh gas in it? Did you replace the fuel filter? What fuel pressure have you got? I think you need 50psi for it to run.
Check that all the ground wires are good.
No, as I just got it running, but I don't see a filter blowing the fuse. It was about 55-60 psi. It should not require gas to get it to run over 5 minutes... I just finished a Neon that had been sitting for over 2 and didn't cause any troubles like this. Come to find out, this is the kind of thing that the PO had, and gave up on it.
