explorer a/c problem

1998 explorer sport a/c stoped working this morning on blowing thru the defrost vents and just laytly started to idle high when stoped

I'm not sure if you are suggesting that the air no longer blows through the defrost vents, if it only blows through the defrost vents, and/or if the air is no longer cold.

Does the engine idle smoothly, just higher than usual, or is the idle rough? Does it seem less powerful than usual?

it idles high and a lil rough the air is cold and only blows out the defrost vent

Look for a leaking vacuum line for the vent controls in the engine compartment. They can be chafed or cracked. Going to defrost is the default for the vent control door. A vacuum leak will also cause a rough idle.
