Only five years and $10,000 fine?
She had gotten away with it and now only five years are possible? I think she should get 5 for the manslaughter and another 20 for not admitting it at the beginning. Sometimes I wonder how the judical system expects to to taken seriously.
Line her up with a shot gun to the head and see how she feels...
If they would execute this s.o.b's insted of just slapping them on the wrist...or waiting 20--25 years to kill them.......just maybe that might stop some people from doing that kind of horrible
act..........
at least the death row inmates wouldn't do it again when they got out !!!!
An acquaintance of mine was driving drunk and drove into a picnic table full of people. 1 person died, a couple of others injured. He ended up getting 6 months in home electronic confinement and 5 years probation. NO jail time. I was quite pissed when I heard the sentence. This was 4 years and 8 months ago. About 3 weeks ago he was busted in a different county DWI & possesion of a couple of different "controlled substances" Now he has 3-6 in the big house to think about it.
Still a very light sentence. Sometimes you really have to wonder what goes through the judges head.
WHY was he allowed to walk in the first place, much less allowed to keep his drivers license ???????
What about lesser felonies, like imbezzelment? I know a lady who robbed here employeer of over $150k. She was but on 9 months probation and sentenced to 6 months in jail. This judgment was defered and she only has to spend 6 months by going in at night 9pm to 5 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
Where's the punishment? She should be locked up for 6 months, orange jumpsuit and all.
Funny how the system looks at criminals as a person who should have rights. They should lose all rights the minute the vertict is handed down.

I second the motion. ALL rights cease to exist when verdict comes down.
I think the Trouble with the legal system is that it tries to be fair and believes in second chances.
It is also overloaded (as we are told) and works like an assembly line by times with juges looking at laws and precidents to make decisions rather than "lose" time analyzing the facts of the case.
Further, I think some judges appear to feel that a short sentence is good enough in a first sentencing because it will give the person a criminal record anyway, creating problems for them in other areas of their lives - i.e. it is hard to get a job with a criminal record.
Just some thoughts - don't think about them too much.
OK lets say one of these walks in BLANK restaurrant and starts shooting (and it has happen) cops get there, see the guy, catch him red handed............WHY HAVE A TRIAL ???...just execute him
I know due process.........innocent until proving guilty..........but come on.....please.........save a lot of tax dollars......plus be a good deterrent for others...................MY OPINION !!!!
