rough running
My truck was running great but i started to hear a whistling sound from the top of the motor. one day i was leaving and turned on the a/c and the truck was idling rough. WHAT COULD IT BE? some say turbo and some say bad gas.. some also say it could be a vacuum pump. now it is having gray smoke coming out of the tailpipe and when you push on the gas pedal it acts like the engine is missing. i need help (PUT ON A COMPUTER AND NO RESULTS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON)

i put the truck on a computer and nothing read out on it but i did go ahead and reset the truck computer and the vacuum pump started working again so i went for a ride and the truck ran like it always had and stoped turned it off and started it back up and the vacuum pump wasnt runnin then and it started runnin funny again missin black/grey smoke from pail pipe runnin real rought if the vacuum pump not workin will it make it run like this cause i thought the vacuum pump ran the air cond. the hub assembly on a four wheel drive thanks joey.

You are right.The vac pump will come on when the vac is low to help switch the doors on the a/c-defrost and pull vac on the hubs for the ESOF.
CPS symptoms are delayed/stuttered take of or engine dieng and then crank right back up.Check the plugs(UVCH) in on both valve covers.Check the wires going to the 42 pin connector on the drivers side vc for frayed wires that could be grounding out.

i tore the top half of motor down all plugs were still pluged in correctly no frayed wires or nothing like that of the source so i got it all put back together and it stills runs rough but before i tore it down the pump was workin and my truck was startin to run fine with that pump not runnin my truck runs rough any other suggestion thanks for everything so for thanks again joey
