Just got back from the dealer. They flashed the PCM and said everything looks good on that front. So I don't need a PCM. That's the good news. The bad news is that it did not affect the hard shifting problem at all. The Ford tech (diesel) guy said it seems to him like high line pressure. They are going to have their tranny guy look at it but he can't get to it until tomorrow. Which will be another $90 diagnostic fee of course.
So I'll be into this transmission deal $270 before fixing a thing. $90 for the tranny shop, $90 for the PCM flash, $90 for the tranny diagnotics. Ugh.
So in a nutshell I have all the same problems and a trans and two map sensors and a pcm later the truck still shifts so hard the dash is falling off.no one can fix this problem.
For future reference, you can get a reman PCM at oreilleys for under 200 bucks. They are just fine. Most of them never even had a problem to begin with. They were just replaced by guessing mechanics.
I think it is a solenoid or possibly a bad ground somewhere. Could be someone left out something with the shift kit. No way to know till you get into it and verify it was done right. That tranny shop was on the right track I think but they should have started with the codes they had. Diagnosing the Map should have been completed first. One thing at a time because when you skip steps you often end up spending money that wasn't necessary.
Ya what happened is I was pulling hay wagons and overheated my trans bad.so I get it rebuilt and when it comes back it shifted hard in every gear,he tells me u need a pcm.so I find one for 270 and put it in and it never fixed my problems.so than I put a map sensor in it and it was great for about 5 days than one cold mourning its starts doing it again.I can't figure it out.the tranny guy doenst wanna help me.ford didn't wanna even look at it cause it has 360000 on it.and I can't sell it or drive it.it shifts ok if u have your foot to the floor this thing is really making me pull my hair out.
