To make this 85 F-150 run again....I pulled the block only to find that from the failure of the oil pump, it then took out the cam, and then piston # 1 & #5....
so needless to say, I need a short block 351w (5.8 liter 4 barrel carb) any recommendations?
1st choice. Take it to a machine shop and get it rebuilt
Another choice. Get a used engine from a junkyard and cross your fingers.
Get a short block from a chain store, and cross two fingers.
Or if you have the money, check with Ford or someplace like Summit racing and get a rebuilt or possibly new engine.
I think what I would do is hunt around in the local trader paper or craigslist, and see if you can find a used car or truck with a engine you could test drive. I put a 351w out of a 79 cougar in my 1980 pickup(it had a 302 originally). I paid $200 for the whole car.
