New to the forum...please excuse any blunders. I have a 68 f250 in need of help. The windows started getting really difficult to roll up (down is okay). I took the panel off and squirted a bunch of white lith grease into the regulator, but no help. Does it sound like I need to replace the window regulator? If so, how difficult is it?
I would also squirt some grease on the bottom track of the window, where the arms ride to move the window. This could be the culprit also.
How are your guides/tracks. If the window is able to move around, it may be just getting caught instead of sliding smoothly.
My '67 I just bought was pretty tough to move. I oiled EVERTHING and it works better with everytime. It does clunk when cranking, but it does move better.
I squirted enough grease to fuel a Burger King deep frier for a year. It feels as though something is really binding. Since it rolls down okay...I am thinking the guides might be okay. Thanks for the post. I am thinking of going to the boneyard today to see how what parts I can pirate.
The clunking sound is most likely coming from the little gear inside the regulator, which has stripped out. I am still working on trying to find a cheap replacement for these.
Thanks for all the help. I went to the local boneyard and got two regulators, tailgate latch, and a glovebox for $35.00. I went home & got it all replaced; it works great!
