If the DOOE heads were reworked & ready to go i would go with them , but the GT 40s flow good & would be less expensive in the long run...Lew

The better DOOE heads will be the 69-70 , they will have no air pump humps or holes in the back of the heads , so you can't use an air pump , they will have like 58-60 cc chambers that will bring your comp up to about 9.5 , will have adjustable rockers , press in studs probabley , you will wan't to machine for screw in studs , need hardened push rods & guide plats for roller rockers , i use these heads on my 302 , they work good for me ...

Untouched GT40's outflow untouched C9/D0 by a little so the newer heads is the better value, but don't spend more than $400 on either because you can have ported E7's that will outflow both by quite a bit for around $600. See http://thumperoforangepark.com/
For reference stock E7's flow about 155/106cfm, C9/D0 about 175/120, and GT40's about 192/128cfm

If the guy doing the porting has a flow bench and can produce some data to prove his work produces similar gains to those available from the place above.. at a competetive price, then yeah you may be able to do it cheaper. But if not you could be throwing money away.

Ported heads will work fine with the SD system as well.

I haven't tried myself but there have been posts here with guys that have sucessfully installed longtubes with GT40p's, and it wasn't much of a problem apparently... just some minor clearancing necessary on a couple header tubes.

Yes the P's actually outflow the regular GT40's so they're worth considering.
