Brake Help

A couple of questions on brakes for my 93 F-250 HD 2WD......

I recently popped the front brake lines..... lost all braking. Rear brakes definitely worked as I could feel the ABS in the snow, I guess I expected the rears to at least hold if I popped the front lines like I did? Is this right?

Anyway, I replaced the master cylinder and the front lines, bled the fronts (rear fittings were siezed and need to replace wheel cylinders)...... started the truck and the rears popped. Great.

So I replaced the rear lines too, and although I have air in the rear lines, I was expecting the fronts to hold pressure, new master cylinder, separate connections for front and rear etc. Is this not the case?

Am I thinking about this wrong? I have the rear cylinders to replace, but I am a little wary about a truck that can lose all its braking when just one axles fails.

Thanks for any input,

Gav P
