Ordered the ball and saftey chain hookups from etrailer and just got an e-mail that said they are on back order and will not have them until the end of the month. I can't wait that long, I need one in a week or so. Anybody know where I can get one or are there any parts guys on here that can help?
Not sure what type of hitch you are looking at, but this is the one I use. Fairly easy to install and works great. Last time I ordered a hitch it was here within 2 or 3 business days. B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitches for Ford Trucks Here is the link..oh and this website has free shipping.
I got mine 2 months ago. It's the B&W Turnover Ball. It's different model no. than 08-10. Contact your local dealers first. You'd be surprised what they might have. I had same problem as you when I was first looking for them online. Called my local dealer who had it in stock. Good luck.
My 04 truck had a B&W Turnover hitch on it when I bought it. I bought their Companion fifth wheel to pull our fiver. I installed a new Turnover hitch on my new truck. The dealer had it in stock.
Sorry guys I should have been more clear, I have the 5th wheel prep in my truck from the factory so I need the Reese Ball. I will look up Parts guy ed and give him a shout. So far no luck with the dealers around me. Thanks Guys!
If you are looking for the Factory Hitch ball, I picked mine up the same day I got the truck. The ford dealer can get them overnight(at least mine can).
I think you need the whole 5th wheel base that plugs into the prep sockets..
its NOT a ball..
Sam
No, there are two types of hitches for these trucks that use the 5th wheel prep package. The 5th wheel and the gooseneck. I do not pull a 5th wheel so I will not use the 4 outer sockets in the bed. I only pull a gooseneck so I just needed the ball that goes in the center socket. I found one after many calls, gonna pick it up tomorrow. None of the dealers around me keep them in stock for some reason?
If you purchase the fithwheel prep package option on the truck it does support the fifth wheel hitch and agooseneck hitch. There will be 5 holes in the bed of your truck id you have this option. You do need to purchase the hitch from Ford. If you use a fifth wheel it will utilize all 5 hole. The gooseneck will only use 3. The gooseneck hitch I think cost use about $200.
It is much nicer than doing an aftermarket hitch..
Just got off the phone with e-trailer, they now have the gooseneck ***** in (a day too late for me). Just an fyi, I got mine for $20 cheaper at the dealer then what e-trailer wanted and also saved on shipping.

The dealer will work with you on both gooseneck hitch and fifth wheel hitch.
I picked my GN ball up shortly after I bought my F-450 and found that the actual ford P/N comes with the ball and the 2 chain pucks (that uses the 2 forward 5th wheel sockets) all in a nice carrying case that you can store under the rear seat when not in use.
