Has anyone installed a front receiver hitch? I was thinking about installing Draw-Tite's 2" receiver to use for a front bike rack or an extra support for a 17' canoe. I'd be using the front receiver when towing our travel trailer or using hitch platform to cay gear on the back. Anyone have any experience with this using front receivers/bike racks or other practical applications?
I have got one. I have it built into my Ranch Hand Bull Nose Bumper. To hold a canoe would be fine but not a bike. It will have to sit way too high and blocks too much
I was also looking at the Hidden-Hitch front receiver. Their website indicates that it will fit on some Limiteds/Mountaineers with the 5.0, some bumpers have a notch and others don't.
I've heard that the ATF cooler interferes with a straight hitch installation. Is that your problem? On your attempt to install, did you look into moving the cooler and re-routing tubing?
Mine problem is that there aren'y any bolt hole for my hitch, which according to "reese" web site, this is a "no drill needed" install. Anyhow, my remote oil filter, not cooler, is in the way. The oil cooler is out of the way.
