E4OD Toast, help needed
I just bought my wife a 92 F150 4x4 with a 5.8l and E4OD. Everything is great except the tranny won't shift into third gear unless it is downshifting from OD. It just kind of skips third when getting up to speed (hangs in second until it goes into overdrive. I just replaced the filter, and refilled with 2 bottles of Lucas and new fluid. Same problem. Is there something that would cause this malfunction other than the tranny being burned out? I'm sure the answer is that it needs replacement, but I'm being hopeful. Also, can I put a C6 in its place without dealing with computer issues? I don't want to run bigger tires or anything, just get this thing reliable.
