Front Axle Issues
My 2000, F250, 5.4L, 4x4 has a front axle issue on the drivers side. The axle slides in and out. I bought the truck and have rebuilt the front end. When I put a new hub assembly on that side I put all of the parts back that came off. However, I have learned that the previous owner did not always fix things properly when they broke. Who's to say that all the parts where there when I started.
So, I think I am missing a snap ring or something. The truck has manual hubs, Warn. Autozone, O'Reilly's, Napa...all say that what I need is dealer only. Really? I think I need a snap ring. Am I missing something?
To best illustrate what is going on I will use this example. If you get under the truck and grab the axle where it comes out of the housing you can slide it in and out. Pretty easily I might add. As a result, unless I keep the hubs in the lock position it vibrates like crazy on the road.
Short of taking the other side apart to see what might be missing I thought I would reach out to you guys.
Thanks,
Jason
