Excessive Oil Consumption

I have a 2001 4X4 5.4l automatic and I have started burning a quart of oil every 600 miles. I have no visable leaks (drips) and I don't see and smoke. I have changed the PCV valve.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks,
Ed

Wow Ed, that is a lot. Has to be going somewhere... is there excessive oil residue in the tailpipe? 1Q per 600 miles would tend to tell me that it is a leak somewhere and not burnoff, is there any oil under the engine? I know you said that it does not appear to be leaking, but that is a considerable amount to be burning without smoke.
If it is burning, it could be rings, valvetrain, etc., but you would notice blue smoke.
