I have a 2001 F-53 chassis, 6.8L with 20K miles. Stored heated indoors and last run about three months ago. Went to start it and will only idle, albeit somewhat roughly - when throttle is depressed it stalls out.
Not sure where to start... fuel filter, IAC, PVC... so little miles I suspect it is a fuel issue and related to being stored with full fuel? I think I used Stabil when last filled...
Update:
Replaced fuel filter,
Fuel pressure is 32psi...
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rob

32 psi @ idle. Replaced fuel filter, and IAC (which appeared very clean), reset computer, checked PCV. Will start and idle OK albeit a little rough a times. Idled it for a while then it would slowly allow increased RPM up to 4000.
Took it for a drive and it seemed to begin to make power OK but still not full RPM. After driving for 20 minutes it began to run down in power again and surging. Generator starts and runs fine.
Had a trip planned a year ago, gassed with full fuel and then plans changed. Job then changed and I have been unable to find the time to use it - the fuel is almost a year old - Is it possible this is just bad fuel? I have added HEET in the event there was some water in the fuel. Motorhome has been stored in heated building.
Where is the fuel regulator located?

Checked pressure under load and with vacuum removed from regulator. Ended up blowing out the MAF with compressed air and it runs like a champ! Must have been some crud on the sensor.
I mentioned the MAF somewhere else on the boards just yesterday (or maybe this morning) commenting a piece of leaf, or even a dead wasp/bee has been found stuck to the MAF.
Either that, or the electrical connector was dirty.
