I have read countless speedo problems on this site and i think mine is just a little bit different than what i have read. Speedo quit and the fuse keeps blowing, there now it blows instantly as soon as i turn the key on. I have read that the srews into the cab light are to long, well my cab light is working so i dont think this is the problem. all lights work, and the overdrive works ( light not flashing). I am having the transmission problems with it shifting hard with the fuse gone and it will even not shift when you drive and slow down it will almost kick outa gear. The airbag light use to be on (it might still be but i donno) the ABS light is on and was one since i got it... the truck is a '94, straight six auto, 2wd, and it is red in color if this helps! I not looking to spend a big load of money on the old truck, it has rust problems. Anyways if you could help it would greatly be appreciated!
You seem to have a short in the wiring somewhere, i would check that before anything else.
+1, also try unplugging everything else that's on the same fuse and reconnect them one at a time to help trace the bad part or wiring path. Which fuse number is it?
Check your wiring. Or have a shop take a quick look.
But as far as your tranny shifting hard, it's only because you're speedo tells it when to shift and if the speedo doesn't work, or reads wrong, the tranny will have a hard time knowing n it will shift at RPM limit, causing it to shift very hard
