In Cab Caddy Organizer-With Rifle Rack.

Does anyone have one of these (D8TZ1046100B .. In Cab Caddy Organizer-With Rifle Rack)? I have been looking for one for my '80 regular cab for a while, but I've never even seen one. A picture and measurements would be really helpful, the one in the sales brochure is pretty small. Seeing as they are obsolete I was thinking of making something similar. Thanks!

They are extremely rare.I have never seen one in person either, nor have I ever even heard mention of anyone having one.The best you're gonna have is probably the picture in the brochure.I do agree though, the pictures aren't the best.

I've been on the hunt for one of these for years. But I want the one without the riffle storage.

They were a dealer item, and a rare one at that.

Doesn't the 81 version have a space for a fishin pole instead of a Rifle?

Don't know if there is a difference between 80-81 but the '81 sales brochure shows rifle. Realistically rifle or fishin' pole, rack should work for either, or if you feel like a multi-course meal-BOTH! lol. AUBURN MOTOR SALES in Auburn IN was supposed to have the one with rifle rack but it turns out its the one without (D8TZ1046100A). You might be in luck 81-f-150! If you buy it post some pics for me...

by the way 81-f-150 I think have the rusty twin to your truck, mine looks darker brown though... any chance you want to mail me a rust free long box? I have 2 trucks that need boxes, they all rust up here... Should fit in a standard envelope...

I took a second look, and you're right.I've looked at both catalogs so many times I must have got them mixed up.Either way,it's still a very cool, but rare item.

It must be like the Power Mirrors. It's definitely up there with the rarest options.Power Mirrors,Behind Seat Organizer, and CB are some of the rarest options i've never seen.I've seen a few CB setups for the 73-79 trucks, but only one for the 80-86,none of which have been in a truck. It's hard enough for me to find a working Underhood light. Most of my junkyards have nothing but Customs and XL's in them, and the higher trim trucks are just standard optioned with no special options.

I have found 2 underhood storage boxes (1 with broken latch) and 3 underhood retractable lights (none in excellent shape, hope to build 1 good one). My 81 needs a "custom" centre dash ( mine has been chopped). I also have an aftermarket antenna on my '81, and I don't see the 4 screw holes for the factory style. This is the second truck I've seen like this. Did they use different antennas sometimes? Unless these trucks were radio delete orig. Seems unlikely as one is an explorer.

My truck was originally a Custom. It was Radio Delete though,so the bezel didn't have the holes for a Radio. One of my buddies cut it open when I let him have it,but then I ended up with it again.

My Original Cowl Panel doesn't have a hole or anything for the antenna. When I swapped to an 87-91 cowl panel,I got one with the antenna holes so I could have a radio.

Did you have the hole for the antenna in the firewall? Hard to believe people would go radio delete in the '80 's. Working on a factory am/fm stereo radio. Got a local guy who will add an aux input (ie: iPod hookup) into any radio. He did my 51 truck for me.

Yep.It had everything for a radio Except the bezel, speaker wire harness, and holes in the doors/cab and cowl. What's even worse,is my truck was ordered and built in California, and doesn't have A/C either.

I put in the speaker harness,Antenna,Radio Bezel, and holes in the doors/cab so now the truck is ready for a radio.I also converted to newer style plugs because the rubber plugs suck and are a pain to get apart when they're older. What I plan to do is have a dummy Shaft Style Radio in the dash, and have a hidden modern CD Player with remote behind or under the seat in a special box so I can have modern conveniences but a factory look.

Radios were an optional extra on all trim levels, except Explorer Packages C and D.

So a Ranger Lariat did not come with a radio as standard, you had to order it as an optional extra.

Would like to see another 1981 Explorer, any pics? Explorers were a limited edition trim and options package that did not feature in the main sales brochure. Fortunately I have the 1981 Explorer Brochure and you can see it here...

They had both. One had a space for the rifle, or fishing pole and the other was a stowage caddy with individual compartments and shelves.

It's the same one that was used in the 1973-1979 trucks as well. Even the 1967-1972 had a version with the optional in cab gas tank delete option.

I've also turned up plenty of seats looking for that caddy.
