for all of you electrical wizards and resto guy's . this concerns my 52 customline . do any of you know wether the original voltage regulator can be rebuilt ??? it's got the oe one on it with it's pretty red ford tag and it needs replaced but i would surely like to keep it . figured i'd ask here before i go visit mr. auto electric and ask .... they rebuilt my generator and converted it and sold me the 12 volt regulator for the 53 , for 85.00 bucks , me likes prices like that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the pretty red tag was on the cover / cap those devious but can’t be trusted dark siders would buy a new one and switch the cover, even if it required a little pop rivet drilling!
we got an issue with something draining the battery and it's not putting out the full voltage . i'm no genius when it comes too the electrical , but after owning a few of henry's creations i learned the regulator is usually the first culprit to look at and replace . wiring isnt the greatest as the original cloth covering is so-so , but no bare wires grounding out , or any funny biznezz with them . so , been testing with a meter and test light , and nearest thing i can figure is the regulator , and or the brushes in the generator . also i'm only getting like a reading of 3-3.5 volts at the coil and it's brand new . replaced the old one as it was really weak , and was the oe one like every dain thing else on this car . freaking cool to see so many oe parts still in existence on a car this old ....................
