My 1999 Taurus has had nothing but Mobil1 5W-30 synthetic oil ever since it's first oil change. She now has 113K miles on her and still purrs like a singer sewing machine.
In about three weeks I'm giving this car to my oldest daughter and her husband. There is no way that hey can afford to maintain this car with the same synthetic oil that I use.
Will I hurt the engine in any way shape or form if I change over to Motorcraft 5w-30 semi syn and send her on her way with that?
No problem at all, but if you think she will not do changes as often as you would, why not put in Mobil One this last time at your expense and send her on her way? Then, she can safely switch to any good dino or blend she can afford at the next change.
I just gave the 1999 Camry to my daughter with 211,000 miles on it, always using 10W-30 dino. I put in Chevron Delo 400, but cold starting is not even close to an issue in San Diego.
