The clutch slave cylinder is bad so I am tearing into the truck to replace the slave cylinder and the clutch. I have removed the transfer case and all that **** and now I am trying to get the damn tranny out. So far I got all the bolts out of the tranny except the top 2. Any hints on getting to these things? They are tight, and I can't get enough room to get up there to get my breaker bar on them. I am almost ready to just cut 2 holes in my floor pan to get to the bolts then pop riveting them back on when I put the tranny back on.
I used a long extension with a universal joint last time I took the transmission out of my truck, but when I first put it in, I had the transmission tunnel cover pan taken out so I could get to the bolts from inside the cab. If you don't have a long extension/u-joint, you can pull back the carpet and remove the tunnel cover plate and get to them straight-on. You'll still need a fairly long extension, though.
If the tranny cross member is down, why cannot you tip the end of the tranny down, thereby exposing the bolts? (I just did this on my 81 last weekend and I did my 90 last winter same way...

Well, cause I figured that I shouldn't tip it down, I mean the cross member is there to support it, right? So I was thinking that it would harm something if I let it tip down.
