Electrical connections
I'm about as dumb as one can be when it comes to electrical connections. I'm installing a dome light override switch so I can have the doors and rear hatch open when I'm out fishing, which is about every weekend for hours at a time. I located the wire in the kick panel, cut it, stripped it, put crimper connectors on them, then ran wires to my 2 prong toggle switch. I connected the switch, secured it with non electrical tape...ok it was duct tape...and the toggle didn't work, no dome lights. On the toggle switch, there's a small hole for the wire to go through, and I bought larger wire, 10 ga. if I remember correctly, and it looks like the truck has 14ga running as the wires from the factory. I'm also going to look in to getting female spade connectors to use on the switch instead of bare wire connections. Any idea why the switch wasn't working? It's just a plain open/close toggle, 2 prong.

The switched side of the dome lights are usually grounds. So when the doors are all closed, the wires have 12v but no ground to complete the circuit. When you open a door, the system gets grounded and the lights come on.
Did you tap into the ground side or the power side of the harness? On the superduty platform, the door sensors go into the VSM. I don't know what color the output is but I'd grab the output from the VSM to interupt.

My issues was either a bad connection at the switch or the duct tape. I went back at it today with the female spade connectors on the switch, and it works great now. I figured my issues were somewhere in either one of those. Thanks for taking the time to respond. +reps
