ok guys i dropped the engine from a 90 f250 into a 89 f250, tried running it with the 89 harness ( had the 90 harness left on engine ) 89 harness where the engine connects to the connectors and to the computer... didnt work out too well due to it kept sayin spout was messed up and having no temp or oil pressure gauges... so i swapped the 90 harness from the engine to computer ( also the harness all the lights in the front of the truck, just for reference ) finished up the swap of the harness, hooked everything up, and no fuel pumps what so ever, now it would run on the 89 harness but not properly.... problem is there is extra connectors from the 90 harness due to it was in a E4OD tranny, and this one its in is the ZF... there is a black connector on both sides that are 8 pin round, problem is they both are males, would those be the fuel pump circuit and would i have to change a pigtail to fix it, also what else will i have to watch for??
sorry for the long post but wanted to make it as detailed as possible
4.9 or 5.0/5.8 or diesel? ;)
(got the sissy avatars and sigs turned off)
I swapped in a ZF+EEC and took out an E4od+EEC.
Had some trouble codes because the manual EEC was expecting to see
an EGR solenoid with a different resistance than what the "E4od engine"
had on it, etc. :)
There's a lot of little things like that, that Ford changed for no obvious
reason but you can find 'em and work 'em out one by one and it'll be right
when you're done. ...or at least, right enough. ;)
I'd already bought a complete set of 1991 Ford Truck Shop Manuals that
includes wiring diagrams, so it was easy for me and have had no wiring
problems at all. BTW, also printed off the Auto Zone wiring diagrams and
on all the parts of those I checked, found their wiring and wire colors to
be correct.
