When I did my EGR delete, I found allot of gunk (I presume to be carbon and oil) in my intake. The EGR lets the exhaust in and the CCV lets the oil in. Together they make a nasty mess in the intake that can take some time to clean out. At that time I also did the CCV reroute through a CCV6000 filter. I only have 5000 miles on the modifications but it looks like I have no oil past the filter going to the in the intake. Some believe the oil and carbon will build up and release, eventually making its way into the combustion chamber causing issues. My opinion is, take care of your truck and it will take care of you. There are known issues with the 6.0 and know “fixes”! Do them and enjoy. You cannot go wrong with a CCV reroute or coolant filter.
Most of my experience is with turbo gas motors, but I would expect most of the benefits to be the same.
-Less oil in the intake and IC. Oil reduces the IC's efficiency.
-Reduced crank case pressure in some cases, which is always good. CC pumping losses are reduced, and piston ring seal is improved. This usually applies to adding more ventilation than factory or vacuum though, which I don't think is part of the typical mod on these trucks.
