It seems I've a tick of a problem.
The bottom Bolt/Stud that holds the Alternator Bracket to the Block of my 300 I6 has come up missing.
Which has caused the battery not to charge properly & makes screeching noises as well.
The reason I'm stating that it's a Bolt/Stud is because the hole in the Bracket is 1/2 again as small as the threaded Hole in the block.
Anyone have an extra one laying around or know where I may acquire one?
I've not had a chance to hit the Wrecking Yards yet.
Maybe. I'm assuming you mean different thread sizes? I have several of those on the EFI motor that I've been assembling/installing this week and I have an "extra" torn-down 300 in my parents' extra garage. Do you know the thread sizes in question? (probably 7/16-14 on one side and 3/8-16 on the other). That's the top fastener on my serp belt setup's alternator/air pump bracket. I'll be running by their house tomorrow, and if the junk engine has one I'll be happy to mail it to you.
Accordin to the picture, it's a Standard course thread Ford bolt w/ a 1/2" head, that's 1 & 13/16" in Length, the threads start @ 7/8" of an inch from the Top of the bolt, w/ a shoulder of 5/8" of an inch from the bottom of the bolt head.
The top of the bolt head has a 6 line star pattern w/ the raised Letter "E" & the Numbers "4" & "1".
It's the bolt that secures the bottom Alt bracket to the block & the Alt is mounted on the Bottom Front of the Passenger Side of the engine.
It turns out that the entrance to the hole faked me out & the actual threads start about an inch into the bolt hole.
Hope this helps a tick more description wise & I rather Appreciate your willingness to help, thank'ee!
Yep. But the "six line star pattern" sounds like standard markings of a grade 8 bolt. You might want to specify that, although I would have expected if it were original it would only be a grade 5 which should be more than adequate for the application. I doubt you'll need me since this isn't a specialty fastener, but any time I can help I'd be happy to. You and F250Restorer have two of the sweetest sounding 300 builds on the forum and I'd love to have either of them (although I'd be compelled to install EFI ). Later!

Thank you kindly, but mine has no where near the time, love, skill, power, nor money as C. Flashman's.
There is a guy in here--now vacationing in Europe, the lucky dog--who has a peach of a build, with turbo, inter cooler, large valves, EFI block with carb head and t.b. injection system that I'd give my little finger for.
Is that the one with the rear-mounted turbo or a different one? That one sounded pretty sweet. Ever since I saw that company that builds the kits (for other stuff) I've been wanting to do a home-brew version of same. I found the results astounding, although I was wanting to limit it to 6-8 lbs. boost on the stock bottom end. BTW, my brother gave me some 19lb injectors yesterday and handed me a magazine I'd never seen before: True Blue Trucks. Article about 300 buildup in it. Finally got to read it today. Seems YOUR build is is print, eh? Didn't take long to put 2 and 2 together. I wish I'd been hanging around the forum more lately. No telling what else I've missed out on during my "absence". May have to subscribe to that mag. Seems pretty good.
