Starting to get nervous

I have posted before on how my truck is going through a regen cycle every one hundred miles. Well yesterday towing my 25 foot cobalt to the lake which is twenty five miles away it went through a cycle on the way there. As I pulled into the park I noticed I forgot the life jackets, turned around and started heading home to get them The truck went through another cycle. Two cycles in thirty miles. So when I got home I checked the oil. It appears it is making oil like crazy. Oil changed three hundred miles ago and now it shows way over full.

Love the power of this truck but this is making me very nervous. I think I'll have the dealer look at it this week. Only 40, 000 miles.

Go in there with documentation of oil change. You are having an issue with the sensors for the DPF or a programming issue.

That is my guess. Do you have an aftermarket air filter on it? If so change it out before you go in.

No after marker air filter. I have lifted the truck and put custom tires and wheels. When my truck is running the regen cycle it will remain displayed in the dash. I have heard that the new program it only displays for the first few seconds. Anyone know if this is correct, if so I might just need the computer flashed.

I have the same programming as you. Yes the newer one does not display it all the time. I might be a programming issue.

Darn things are getting like a desktop pc. Every once in awhile it needs a reboot.

I have no idea but there is certainly something that is causing it to regen every 40 miles.

You are running ULSD right?

Yes I am. It has gone downhill for the last two months. I just hope it is something simple. Thanks again Senix, you always have valuable information.

Yes, the up to date flash as of November 09 changed the readout on the regen. It flashes very briefly, in fact I have a hard time catching mine. I know it's happening because the MPG starts going south for no other apparant reason. Also, as I read the Ford literature and they will take action when the oil level exceeds the top of the thick part of the dip stick when the oil is checked using the "short stick" method. The short stick method is to insert the dip stick until the plastic near the handle rests on the top rim of the dip stick tube. If you do that and the oil is above the measuring fob at the bottom they are to take some actions. Now, I can't remember for sure where I read that but I am certain I did. Probably a TSB somewhere in this forum. Mine makes oil but never to the point that it exceeds those standards. Hope this helps, and good luck
