Today was strike two. I'm thinking it's a breaker about to die, but here are the immediate symptoms. I turn the key on let the engine rev up and come back down to idle, I put the transmission in drive and I loose power to the dash, radio and engine. I can turn the key on and the gauges reset and I try to start again and it shuts down again and stays off. I get under the hood and do some easy stuff, the lights come, the key in dinger goes off, I climb back in and start it up and drive off.
I also believe this is why my keyless remote randomly pages me on really hot days. The breaker is getting hot and kicking out. The alarm has power directly from the battery, so perhaps it's related to the GEM power dropping out and jumping back up.
Anyone have insight to this before I start my research into the breakers and grounds?
An easy fix would be replacing the breaker with a fuse. You could splice an inline fuse holder into the wiring bypassing the suspect breaker. If the problem doesn't occur again, you know the breaker was the issue.
Something like this would take 15 minutes or so to install.
