Can anodized trim parts be polished? I was told a few years ago that you ran the risk of burning them if you tried to polish them. I didn't know if they have come out with a new process for polishing.

Reason: Puncuation
Understand the trim, grille, headlight, turnsignal covers, etc., are of a low grade alloy alum and plated with a thin coat of anodize; once the alum is exposed it can oxidize, or blacken within short period of time then requires regular attn. Don't suggest using a buffing for reasons mentioned. Perhaps wash with mild soap then apply very mild compound using soft cloth. Few years ago recondition the grille on the 65; anodize remover, sanded, polished, then applied coat of clear, found it very labor intensive and appears about time to redo.

yes they can be buffed to a point. I use an air buffer with a foam pad and automotive rubbing compound. That will brighten them somewhat.
As others have said in order to get a nice shine the anodizing needs to be stripped, aluminum polished and re-anodized or cleared.
