stupid question about leaf springs..

Hey guys Im going to be installing new shocks today after work and later down the road I want to put new leaf springs on the front of my 01 F250 7.3. The question I have which is going to sound stupid but I know leafs are suppose to be cupped but mine are pretty flat. I talked to a guy I work with who owned his own garage and he said maybe ford put springs like that for a smoother ride but hes not to sure if they came like that or they are just worn. Im guessing the springs need to be a) replaced or b) rebent. The truck also had 76k.

Sorry for the stupid question aha

Thanks,
-AJ

Most of the factory springs, I've seen, are pretty flat or have a slight de-arch to them. Mine looked like that at 44k miles when I purchased it. I added a 1.5" add-a-leaf a few yrs ago and now it sits pretty flat. You can also put X-code springs, which are optional factory front springs for snow plow applications. This will level the front end and give a somewhat stiffer, truck-like ride. The add-a-leaf did pretty much the same thing.

it's normal. Theoretically the best riding springs would be flat, it allows for the most travel and easiest flex. The real world doesn't always work like that, but theres nothing wrong w/ your springs.
