what one do i need -96 350
black grey purple IH ford?or is there more?
seen something on this awhile back just cant remember

the current descision is the dark gray from international

The purple IH one is supposed to be the best one out there right now. I don't have the P/N saved on this computer, but Travis has it.

The original black ones were good, the new grey ones are crap.

If you get the recall done, they will put in the new grey one. If you get the recall and your old black one still works I would swap the black one back in and keep the grey for a spare in the glovebox.

The dark gray ford part# is F4TZ-12K073-C
George gave the IH part #. I have the IH one in and the ford one as a spare

after pulling out the gray cps and putting in the dark one, i noticed my truck idles smoother, and runs a lil better

My mileage picked up a couple with the dark gray one compared to the light gray one Ford put in on the recall. I didn't notice the truck running any better but like I said, better mileage for me anyway. I guess I actually have 2 spares in the glove box, new dark gray and used light gray. You never know.

If you get the recall done, they will put in the new grey one. If you get the recall and your old black one still works I would swap the black one back in and keep the grey for a spare in the glovebox.

Ill probably leave the new one in and keep the old one as the spare

It's actually dark gray with a purple oring The numbers listed above are it.

heres one i found on net
Improved CPS Cam Poisition Sensor for 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Diesel 1876736C91
i called ih dealer and he told me they only have one and it like 25 bux but could'nt tell me what color it was

From what I remember there is a different CPS part depending on your motor serial number is this true?

I am getting ready to go on a long drive out in the middle of no where and this failing is my only fear. I should probably replace it right?
