My 87 F150 4x4 5.0L has 2 fuel tanks. When the front tank is selected, the engine will die after a minute or so. I replaced the fuel pump assembly a couple years ago. Today I dropped the tank after draining it & removed the pump/sender assembly. Tested the pump with external battery, it spun with no problem. Then checked for 12v on the connector, was there for a couple seconds till the high pressure pump got the fuel line pressured up & then cut off.
Put everything together & drove it again, still died. Does the fuel selector module have any type of solenoid in it that could be stopping fuel flow from the front tank? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Rick

Did you have a jumper installed on the EEC test connector to apply constant power to the pumps? If so the pumps should not have stopped when pressure built up, it should run indefinitely because there is no pressure cuttoff on the fuel system.
The selector valve should not restrict fuel flow normally but if it is malfunctioning then it is possible. That would be the next thing to look at if you are satisfied you don't have a 12v power problem at the pump.
didn't know about the test connector jumper to keep 12v on the pump(s). It's all back together & seems to be working OK for the moment.
I have the 6-port selector valve assembly. Non of the local parts houses seem to sell the valve, local Ford stealership wants $155 for one. Are there any alternatives?
