I would be interested in hearing how actual users of the DECEL tune evaluate it. I pull two different 5ers, one is 8800 and the other is 11500#.
Thanks, Bill
I would rather have the EBPV on a switch or us a SP Diesel EBPV brake kit...
Just me...
And the only way they work good at all is with higher RPM's, it will not work much at all in the 1500rpm range, need to be in the 2000-2500 range to get good results.

Please exlpain your analysis. I use mine all the time at lower RPM's when slowing down to stop lights or stop signs whether I am loaded or unloaded. I personally would not use anything that did not protect the transmission.

I love the decel tune and use it often when I tow. Only thing better would be if it could come on and off with the pedal in my tow tunes, but I think Jody is working on that

He's tried it, hasn't found it, yet....

Thanks all, I really appreciate the feedback. I had pretty much made up my mind but wanted to hear from actual users. I had searched for info and read a lot of stuff about valve float etc. I didn't feel that the information was based on fact from users.
Thanks again and looking forward to getting the tuner Tues.

At low RPM's there is less air being moved thru the motor, making ANY exhaust brake less effective. The fact that the EBPV is one of the weakest exhaust brakes you can use (I am a fan of them, dont get me wrong) it makes it that much less effective.
They work on back pressure, you will have less back pressure with lower RPM's
Also at lower RPM's the trans pump does not have as much pressure built, which makes it harder to keep the coast and lock up clutches locked up.
How is Jody "protecting" the tranny? If its just locking the TC thats what the SP Diesel unit does as well.

Thats what I loved about my SP Diesel kit. On the gas, its off... Off the gas, its on. All controled by my cruise buttons. Could set my TC lock up speeds to where ever I wanted and unlock speeds as well. It was a slick unit!

Valve float can happen, but its not going to happen from an EBPV brake.
