Im ordering up injectors tonight from Pensacola. I have a 92 7.3l with the zf5 in my f350. I dont have a turbo yet but within the next year Ill be getting one hopefully. Should I get turbo injectors for the truck or just the regular ones for now? The turbo ones say they are for 93/94 trucks only, or this just because thats the only 2 years they had turbos?
Yep. The way I understand the g code injectors for the turboed motors were a little different for emissions. Everybody uses the b code injectors to replace them without any problems.
Just a suggestion buy new ones instead of rebuilt for the difference in price. I would check the price difference of the new ones and the matched ones from someone like type4 too.
no kidding, the price diff between new and rebuilt is negligible at best. Typ4's always have great results but are a lot more so if you cant go with them get the new ones from pcola diesel. Injectors new from them will be the same from anywhere else, now their injection pumps are a different story.
I also found most o-rings in the kits I just got from Pensacola with flashing issues, caps were nice, no flashing at all, the hose is ok, it is cloth wrapped but it's not good German hose and the spring clamps are cheap, not good German ones but I suspect they'll be just fine as long as they don't get over stretched, I'll know tomorrow after I'm done installing one of the kits.
I got all my parts today. The returnline kit came with plastic ts instead of the metal ones that are on the truck now are metal. Are the pastic ones ok or should I reuse the metal ones? Also what am I putting the vasoline on? the viton rings right? Any other helpful hits are appreciated.
If you have metal T's you could get a fortune for them, as I have never seen an idi with anything but plastic. If yours are gray they are original and I would take a close look at them as I belive they are better quality than what comes in the kits nowadays.
I think I'm gonna see what kind of shape the metal t's are in and reuse them if I can since they seem like they would be durable compared to the plastic ones. I almost forgot one more thing, Im also changing the fuel filter while Im doing this since mine was pretty old. I know I gotta filll it before I put it on, but do I got to bleed the injectors also since Im replacing them and if so how do I do it lol?
