Well, made the run from Florida to Panama in 12 days. After having to leave the truck at customs for 28 days, I got my truck out on the 29th of June. Had to post a bond. Low and behold, Panama is now pushing low sulfur diesel. I thought I was going to avoid that issue. Is there anything I need to be adding to the diesel? Remember, no Wallyworld here. There are parts stores and a hell of a lot of diesels here though. Have not seen many diesel additives other than injector cleaner.
We used to have two grades of diesel here, corriente regular grade and premium. Now I'm seeing most pumps showing bajo en azufre low sulfur? ultra low sulfur?
I had heard horror stories about older engines running this stuff. So that is why I am asking. Not 100% sure, but it looks like the diesel is coming from the U.S.
Fuel in panama should be OK as long as they are not cutting it with something, just keep an eye on your water seperator.
Some folks here run 2-stroke oil for added lubricity if your worried about that. Shouldnt be too hard to find down there.
Someone should chime in shortly to give you an idea of how much.
I have always thought that our older 7.3s need an added additive to increase the lubricicity (sp) in the ULSD........so we're now thinking that we really don't need the added lubrication??

You need nothing. As I have said a million times... Put diesel fuel in your diesel tank... Nothing more, nothing less. Anything else is snake oil.
