Was wondering why the new F-250 /350 6.7 Liter engine requires emissions fluid. How much does it cost? Is it only found at dealerships.
Stopped by Wasilla Ford last week. No standard shifts are available with the new 6.7 liter engine. I'm waiting until next year thinking it may change. I live in Alaska and have to pull a camper or ocean boat. The new transmission can be shifted electronically but all of it is too new. looking at the forums really hard.
Manuals are not longer with model year 2011. They will probably never return.
DEF is required to meet emissions standard effective calender year 2010. To help reduce the emissions. Can be purchased at dealers, and most truck stops, pilot, TA and on. Cost is not too bad, I think someone said around 8 bucks for 2.5 gals.
It is suppose to last up to 7500 miles depending upon usage.
I am on my way back from Colorado to Central Texas and there were several people with the new 11's pulling 5ers and TT in the RV Park/Campground at Buena Vista. As we were all sitting around drinking Colorado Kool-aide, they were talking about their 11's and for the most part, very confident. The only thing they were not fond of was the Emissions Fluid (urea) that needs to be serviced every oil change. I followed one guy up over Cottonwood Pass (12,129 ft) pulling his 5er, he never let up and was gone. I have to say, I was impressed!
