My truck is getting a freshened and EFI'd version of an existing low-mileage stock 351W shortblock that I've had sitting around here waiting for a job. I've already got my hands full with scratch assembling the entire truck and grafting EFI in where it never was before already. But when the truck is completed, I'm going to be walking around the '90 351W core that donated it's EFI parts to the new engine. I'm thinking that I'd kinda like to take my time assembling a new stroker short block for installation at a later date. There are apparently several stroker 351W variations and displacements that are possible. What opinions do you guys have for the least expensive, simplest to build, and most reliable of the common choices? I'll be looking mostly for long term reliability with capabilty for an easy 400 HP/ft/lbs with a streetable compression ratio. Thanks!
I am far from an expert on Ford motors but have a stroker built for my Corvette. Go with all forged parts for reliability and strength.....also if you ever plan on adding the "juice" or FI, forged parts will be able to handle a big shot and a lot of power. Although FI will require some head work and different gaskets
Also, unless you have the machinery and are pretty talented on machining, this can make or break your motor.
Wow, so many factors to consider with a stroker. I guess I didn;t help at all Bore, stroke, cam, etc...............a million combos are possible. But if your love TORQUE strokers will blow you away
