1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, which is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for about $22.00.

Not necessary, I know the sequence and could decode all this jazz whether you listed the titles or not.

05000 / 175 / 4000 / 24
F10 = F100 2WD

Y = 360 2V

N = Norfolk VA Assembly Plant.

F30999 = 1969.

131" Wheelbase.

P = Medium Ivy Green.

F100 2WD, 5,000 lbs. GVWR

L81: L = Pastel Parchment Corinthian Vinyl & Light Parchment Granada Pattern Vinyl // 81 = 81B Custom Cab-Ranger.

C = Ford Type 3.03 3 Speed Manual all Syncromesh Transmission.

17 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.25-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

175 net HP @ 4,000 RPM

24 = Jacksonville FL Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

Ford confusion.

After decoding your 1965 info, I thought I'd pass the following along, so you won't be confused.

A was used in 1965 for the type 3.03 3 speed. C was used 1966/72.

07 was used in 1965 for the 9's 3.25-1 ratio. 17 was used 1966/72.

Edit: Hmmm, I see that Squire Don (cs65) beat me to it by 8 minutes.

Thanks guys!!

Someone, at some point, had it repainted red. It must have been a pro job when it was done because the interior, jams, etc are all red now. I saw it chipping in places with some green under it so i figured the red wasnt original. Is there any more desirability on the truck for it being a Ranger Custom Cab?

Thanks!

LOL...yeah...how'd I do with the 69 ??? I couldnt find the build date info on the CD...had to break out one of the 6" thick books ...
Another question Bill, On the rear ends...or front axles, etc...when they say its a 3.3M or 3.5M rating...is that always gonna be a 3300 or 3500 # rating using those two as an example ???
On the 3 speed trans...Ive never seen it said the trans is a 3:03 All Syncro Trans...it usually just says Ford 3 speed with the Ford code similar to what I posted on the rear end with this particular decode...

Its nice getting something different to decode once in a while :-)

Abso-tutly

On the 3 speed trans...Ive never seen it said the trans is a 3:03 All Syncro Trans...it usually just says Ford 3 speed with the Ford code similar to what I posted on the rear end with this particular decode.
Since the Ford type 3.03 3 speed all syncro was introduced in 1963 and came as standard equipment on 1963/72 F100/250's, 1967/72 F350's, and from 1973 thru 1986 on others, I add the info when I decode the TRANS code.

1968/72 F100's: There were TWO different 9" rear axles. One had a weight capacity of 3300 lbs, t'other 3600 lbs.

Even though classified as a 9 inch, the 3600 pounder has a 9 3/8" ring gear, only 5 internal parts are the same as the 3300 pounder.

Dana 44 front driving axles: There were three weight capacities offered 1959/72: 3M (3,000 lbs.), 3.3M (3,300 lbs), 3.5M (3.500 lbs).

Thanks Bill...were the 3 speeds all column shift as far as the F100-350 trucks go...I would ask that about the cars too, but the Mustangs Im pretty certain had floor shift for the 3 speed.

How many 1965/2010 Mustang's have a column shifted manual or auto trans? None.

1952 was the last year that F Series trucks had a floor mounted 3 speed shift lever, used with the H/D 3 speed manual trans only on F1/F2/F3's.
