Over size tires question

Hello, I have a 1998 Mountaineer 5.0L AWD and I want to put on some 31 10.50 15 tires. Will this mess up anything other than the speedometer? Some people are tell me it will mess up my abs and make it want to activate all the time. Is that true? I see new trucks all the time with bigger tires on them and I cant see why it would mess anything up as long as all the tires are the same size. Am I safe to put on a little bigger tire? the 31's are 2" bigger ( 1" inch top and 1" bottom ) Am I ok with doing this with an AWD??? Thanks all.....

As long as all 4 are the same diameter--and they will be--you should be ok.

Speedo will be a little slow, but not enough difference to spook the ABS methinks.

Heavier wheels and tires can hop more, leading to skidding and resultant ABS activation--maybe that's the problem others talk about.

Good shocks help with that.

I'm thinking of nearly the same thing on my '98 V6 4x4.... (245-75x16s)

I know the speedo will be off, that is a given any time you change tire sizes. The tire place said it would mess up more than my speedo. They are trying to tell me my abs would activate all the time. I dont see how if all the tires are the same size. They would all still be spinning at the same speed. People put bigger tires on there 4x4's all the time and dont have any problems. A friend of mine has a 2001 superduty with much larger tires and he has no problems. I dont know if its because the V8 Mountaineers are AWD and thats where problems will start??? Any thoughts on that?? I dont see how, but I dont know...
