is it ok to replace the plastic vaccum lines on my '85 f150 300 with regular 5/32 vac. hose? seems to me it would create alot more more vaccum than needed at certin places. any thoughts are appreciated. thanks
Actually replacing the "BRITTLE" plastic "Hard lines is a good idea. Most of the sensors, etc., will have metering valves, or restrictions built in to moderate vacuum from source.
5/32 is a good size for most all of the lines (except PCV and Brake Booster). Just make sure they aren't flopping around and keep away from heat sources as much as possible. You can bundle the hoses as necessary and cover with corrugated split tubing for heat and scuff resistance. Plus if you do it right, your engine compartment will look better.
