Smoking Steering Column
So I'm driving home from a trip when I start to smell something burning. About that time my daughter says there is smoke coming from the steering column. I looked down and sure enough there is is a small trail of smoke coming from the steering column in front of the gauge panel. I pulled over and prepared to panic, but the smoke went away. Got back on the road with no more problems for the rest of the five hours of driving. I didn't use the cruise control after that incident because I suspected that may have something to do with it. Has anyone had a similar issue or heard of anything like this?

You didn't give your model year, but if it's a 97-02 then the speed control fire issue recall might apply to you.

It's a 2000. I know we had a recall item fixed several years ago that involved something near the brake booster. Seems .they replaced a wiring loom in that area. I know there is a blue tag on it that indicates it's been replaced. I will check into. Thanks
