I'm just frustrated with the long weekend and not being able to do anything. I've got a DS coolant filter to install, a red head steering box to put in, a S&B cold air filter on order and a CCV kit on order. I don't want to do things twice so I thought I could maybe do the foil delete and paint the tube.
I went ahead and took the tube off the air box and it came out pretty easy. Just have to clean it up and get the foil off it. I'll try and get some pictures when it's all done.
Just did mine today myself, THe glue was giving me fits, wife let me see that left and came back with it in 15 mins. She said she used the gel goo gone.
The gasoline and a wire brush works good. You'll want to chuck the wire brush after, so use an old one or a cheap one. It's all cleaned up, and wasn't too bad.
I'm really torn on whether I want to paint it. I looked at some of the guys pictures that have, and I kind of like it. I think I like the idea of a semi gloss black with red boots. Does painting deaden the whistle, any? I love that sound and wouldn't jeopardize it for looks. I saw some engine paint today that was ceramic. I wonder how that would work?
I wouldnt think paint would take any of the whistle noise away??? Good question, and yes the Black would look great with red boots, Clay at RiffRaff has excellent boots BTW, and in red too...I left my I/C pipes natural, to each there own I guess...
If I leave them natural, I'll go with black boots. I wish I would have had my thoughts together when I ordered my other stuff. I ordered it knee jerk, spur of the moment when he came out with his sale. I did that in response to a thread started about the sale.
