Frig trucks 57-60?
I have seen several people refer to the trucks from 57-60 as "frig" trucks or something. Where does this name come from? I am always having a really tough time finding parts in part catalogs and such. It seems that not many people like this generation of Ford Trucks. I have a 59 F100 and love the way it looks. I havent seen a ford truck that I dont like but I just really like the styling in this generation, specifically the 59. What do yall think?

I always liked the fridge trucks, and at a young (er) age, I was looking for a 59/60 4x4, since I was a big off-roader back in the day. I ended up with a '66 Bronco instead. If I didn't get the F1 as a project since, I would still be looking for the Fridge. Aftermarket hasn't regarded these trucks as "street-rodder" material, so they passed them by. So they are also called "the orphan years".

Big, square and boxy, like a refrigerator. It's a term of endearment. I think it's safe to say most of us here like all of the trucks, as you do. And it is unfortunate they don't get the love and respect as the earlier models. But that just makes you all the more special. One who's willing to go out of your way to be creative and make something happen, rather than just open a catalog and whip out the credit card.

I've always had a soft spot for them as well. Back in high school my brother and I converted a 1960 big window F-100 short wide bed to a 4x4 using the drivetrain from a 1975 F-150.
After we had the engine, trans, and t-case in it I drove it like that for several years before we finally finished up and put the front axle under it. I have a lot of good memories from the truck.
I've had a couple of others over the years and it seems to me that they are gaining in popularity every year so the aftermarket support for them will eventually get better.
Good luck finding what you need

Walston, you've got the absolute cleanest Fridge I've ever seen.I've always wanted to do that Ranger wiper upgrade from your Gallery, since we get usually 40-60 inches of rain here in the winter. The two-speed wipers are inadequate for our rainfall.
Have you ever made it to Columbus for the Y-Block Shootout they have every Labor Day Weekend?A few of the Akron-area members attend each year.I'm hoping to take three weeks off and drive there next year in my old truck.Steve.

The Ranger upgrade is the only way to go on the wipers, they work great.
