Newbie 4x4 question
Hi All,
2006 PS 250 crew 4x4 lariat, when i engage the 4x4 on the dash, the indicator lights come on, the air conditioning switches from the dash vents to windshield, and the 4x4 is not really engaged. What are some things i could check for? Vacuum lines?
I did a search, but couldn't find anything specific

yup, you are not getting the vacumn to the hubs most likely. So I would start at the hubs and check those lines for vacumn and work backwards.
One thing to add. Did you manually turn the hubs and get the front end to lock?
Turn switch on dash, then manually turn hubs and verify.

I'd put money on your ESOF solenoid. Very common problem. I replaced mine and problem solved. It's located on the pass. fender right by the vacuum pump and reservoir. Is your vacuum pump constantly running when you start up the truck?
